THE STORY / THE GAME

What this is based on.

France Burns is a fictional arcade survival game. Napoleon as the player, the employee, crank, 60-second defense, aircraft crashes, burning buildings, earthquake, falling statue and burning runners are invented gameplay. The international flags and varied civilian dress are fictional scene choices, not evidence about participants in the reported protests. They are not reports of actual events. The bookmarked Micromania/Zing clip is captioned Nice; this mission takes place in a fictional composite French city.

The October 17 protests brought large peaceful marches and violent clashes to France. Reports describe masked rioters, attacks on police, fires and looted shops. The interior minister blamed radical far-left groups and looters. Those are attributed statements, not labels assigned to every person in the crowd.

What the game simplifies

The fictional city reuses simplified OpenStreetMap geometry originally collected around Paris, with invented street names and events. It does not recreate a particular French city or incident. Heights and façades are simplified; shop names, barricade positions, NPC behaviour and the shop location are invented for play, not a reconstruction of individual incidents. Injury and stamina meters are arcade rules. No crowd character represents an identifiable person; Napoleon is a deliberately fictional player cameo.

The radio includes four seconds of original BFMTV audio of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, with an English summary. Other captions summarize attributed reporting. Specific unverified incidents and identities are not reconstructed.
